Direct Primary Care: Personalized, Accessible Medicine
Tarantino Medical Group, Inc will transition to Direct Primary Care model starting January 15, 2026.
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an innovative approach to healthcare designed to put patients first and restore the patient-doctor relationship. Instead of billing insurance for every visit and every procedure, DPC works on a straightforward monthly membership that covers a wide range of primary care services. That means no copays, no hidden costs, and no rushed visits.
Every year, traditional insurance costs more, covers less, and creates unsustainable administrative burdens for patients and practices alike. This new model puts health back in healthcare and places the focus on your needs, returning care decisions back to where they belong, between the patient and their doctor. In DPC, you pay a simple monthly membership fee. In return, you get highly personalized, comprehensive care with no copays, no surprise bills, and no insurance middlemen.
Some of the benefits of DPC in my practice:
More time with your doctor for thoughtful, unhurried visits
No copays or hidden costs
More flexibility and convenient scheduling
Direct, convenient communication with your doctor — text, portal messages, video visits, or traditional office visits
Comprehensive Annual Physical
Annual Well-Woman Exam
Pediatric Well Visit and Sports Physical
A holistic focus on prevention and wellness, tailored to your health goals, with comprehensive management of both acute and chronic conditions
Think of it as having a doctor in the family. Someone who knows you, cares about you, and is there when you need help.
Our Transition to Direct Primary Care
Tarantino Medical Group, Inc. will be transitioning to a Direct Primary Care model starting January 15, 2026.
This change allows me to practice medicine the way it should be: with time, attention, and no insurance middlemen in the way. My goal is to truly know my patients, prevent emergencies before they happen, and partner with you to provide evidence-based, science-driven, holistic, and personalized care.
Until January 1, 2026, I will continue to operate under the current insurance-based model.
I’ll be sharing more details over the coming months, including membership information, what’s included, what is changing, and how this transition will affect current patients.

Concierge practices typically charge high annual fees and bill your insurance for services the insurance company deems medically necessary.
DPC is different. It’s one affordable monthly membership that covers a wide range of primary care services that you and your doctor decide are medically necessary. There’s no insurance billing, no copays, and no hidden costs.
-
Many patients find that DPC costs less than what they currently spend on copays, urgent care visits, and ER trips. Because you can reach Dr Tarantino more easily and appointments aren’t rushed, we can often prevent problems from escalating and keep you healthier in the long run.
-
Your monthly membership covers a wide range of primary care services — annual exams in office, preventive visits, chronic condition management, sick visits, and same- or next-day care for urgent needs when possible, whether by video or in person. You’ll also have better access to Dr. Tarantino through portal text and secure messages, ensuring your care is never rushed or delayed. See our membership agreement for details.
-
Your membership does not cover services outside of our office, such as specialist visits, hospitalizations, emergency room care, imaging or procedures that require another facility. It also does not include the cost of outside labs, vaccines, or medications. The good news is that, whenever possible, we will help you find affordable cash prices or guide you on how to use your insurance benefits for those services. See our membership agreement for details.
-
No. Direct Primary Care is not insurance. We will contract directly with our patients to provide primary care services. Think of it like a gym membership or a cell phone plan—your monthly fee covers primary care directly with us, with no insurance middlemen.
-
Yes. While we don’t bill insurance directly, we strongly recommend that patients carry some form of major medical coverage for services that DPC does not cover. You can use insurance for labs, imaging, prescriptions, vaccines, ER visits, hospital stays, and specialist care.
-
Possibly. Recent federal guidance has opened the door for DPC memberships to qualify as HSA and FSA eligible expenses, but interpretation can vary. We recommend checking with your HSA or FSA administrator to confirm coverage for your plan.
-
Dr. Tarantino provides comprehensive care for patients from 10 years old and older.
-
If you are hospitalized, a hospitalist will oversee your care during your stay. The hospitalist’s services and other hospital fees will be billed to you or your health insurance plan. Patients may request that Dr. Tarantino follow up during and after hospitalization.
-
Dr Tarantino can continue to order medications, referrals, vaccines, and tests as before. Most insurance plans, except Kaiser, will approve orders placed by an out of network physician. We can also offer access to discounted self-pay rates for labs, imaging, vitamins and supplements, if you choose to not use your insurance.
-
DPC practices do not accept Medicare or other insurance for their membership fees. Once we have opted out of Medicare in January, you can pay a monthly membership fee directly to Tarantino Medical Group, Inc. Your Medicare coverage will still apply to services performed outside the DPC office, such as lab tests, imaging, specialist visits, hospitalizations, and medications, which Dr Tarantino CAN continue to order.
-
We coordinate with trusted specialists and hospitals when needed and will continue to refer and advocate for you every step of the way. While those services are billed separately, our goal is to ensure you have seamless, high-quality care both inside and outside of the office.
-
Your membership will include one free OMT visit each year (50 minutes), already built into your plan (no cash, value, not transferrable).
Additional sessions are available at a special member rate of $150 per visit (50 minutes).
Members may also take advantage of special discounted packages. For Non-Members:
