In-Office Ultrasound, Medication Dispensing, and Blood Draws
Getting healthcare shouldn't mean driving to three different places and waiting in three different lines. I'm Dr. Tara Tarantino, a Direct Primary Care physician in Walnut Creek, and I'm always looking for ways to make care more convenient and affordable. Here are three services you can now get right in my office.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
I've completed training in musculoskeletal ultrasound and now have an ultrasound machine in the office. Ultrasound lets me see muscles, tendons, and joints in real time. I can evaluate many problems during your visit and guide certain injections more precisely.
As an osteopathic physician, I love using osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT). When I combine what I feel with my hands and what I see on ultrasound, I get a much clearer picture of what's going on. I'm still building my skills and don't consider myself an expert, but ultrasound is a valuable tool. When needed, I'll still order formal imaging to confirm a diagnosis.
Ultrasound is included in your membership at no extra charge. If you've been putting off a nagging joint or muscle problem, we can talk about it.
Medications Dispensed in the Office
I can dispense certain prescription medications directly from the office. This can help if prescription costs frustrate you, if you're tired of extra pharmacy trips, or if you'd rather skip the refill line.
Blood Draws in the Office
We can draw blood right here. When appropriate, that means no trip to Quest or Labcorp, no waiting for a Labcorp or Quest appointment, and no walk-in lines. Lab tests are billed separately through your insurance or at discounted cash prices.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does in-office ultrasound replace an MRI or other formal imaging?
Not always. It gives us useful information right away, and I'll still order formal imaging when it's needed.
Which medications can you dispense?
Many common generic medications. Members can me their list and I'll check.
Do I need to fast before a blood draw?
It depends on the test. We'll let you know ahead of time.
